The authors evaluated associations between midlife BMI (self-reported BMI at age 50) and AD as well as late-life BMI (collected at baseline) and AD. This row of results corresponds to the association between late-life BMI and AD.
We have only provided results of the analyses adjusting for age, race, sex and educational level in these tables, and not those adjusting for potential intermediates such as DM.
Method of BMI ascertainment: technician mesurement
"Anthropometric measurements in late life were collected in person at the clinic visit occurring closest to the time of the CHS MRI. These measurements included height, weight and waist-hip circumference in 1992-1993 (baseline for the CHS-Cognition). Midlife weight, however, relied on self-report of weight at age 50 years collected on the medical history form. Midlife BMI was calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared and waist-hip ratio (WHR) as the ratio of waist to hip circumference."
